First graders in Ms. Mills’ class are rocking and rolling this year! They’ve been using all kind of fun items to help reinforce what they’ve learned in math. On Friday, students tallied and graphed the colors of their fruit loops. We love delicious learning opportunities! Way to go Tigers! 🐾
School Closures in Response to Hurricane Helene
Due to the potential for high winds, heavy rainfall and flooding associated with Hurricane Helene over the next two days, and with guidance from the National Weather Service and Camden Emergency Management Agency, Camden County Schools will close all schools Thursday, September 26, 2024, and Friday, September 27, 2024, for all staff and students. The safety of our students, employees, and their families will always be our first priority.
In any emergency, it is critical for parents and students to rely on accurate, timely information directly from the school system or local and state officials. All official announcements regarding schools will be made on the Camden County Schools website, Facebook and Instagram pages, through the Camden County Schools app, on local radio stations – KBAY 106.3 and WECC 89.3, and on the Tribune and Georgian website. Please check one or more of these sources for updates regarding future decisions.
We wish everyone the best as you prepare for the storm and make plans to ensure the safety of your families. Thank you for your patience during this time.

Reminder: Fall Picture Day is tomorrow!
Students in second grade have been diving to learning with lots of fun! They’ve been reading about the three states of matter and have enjoyed hands on fun to go along with it! Students got to sample popsicles and play with Oobleck out in the beautiful sunshine! Way to go tigers!
Thank you to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) STEM First Grant and SWFLANT, the 1st-5th gifted classes are diving into this year’s First LEGO League challenges! The grant has helped to provide the official LEGO competition table, Discovery Sets for 1st grade, Spike Essentials kits and expansion packs for 2nd and 3rd, AND the Spike Prime kits for 4th and 5th grade. Students will participate in class competitions with the Explore challenges using robot submarines they build using their kits. The Discovery kits involve simple machines for students to use in their creations. The Essentials and Prime kits involved the students using a robotic hub they will use to create and program to complete each mission.
Mrs. Aligood’s 1st and 2nd grade Challenge Classes created a S.M.A.R.T. Goal. We discussed how to set a reasonable goal in a specific amount of time.
A SMART goal is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely. Students chose an area they wanted to work to improve. Some chose reading, others chose math, and some even set goals for tying their own shoes or riding a bike without training wheels!
The children then created 3D portraits of faces and placed their goal in their heads. They talked about how goals should be on the forefront of their minds all the time!
Students in Ms. Dawson’s first grade class had fun showing all they’ve learned about place value. They had a delicious task of making their own ones and tens! What a fun and tasty day of learning!
📚✨ Did you know your K-5 child can use i-Ready at home for additional practice? It's a great way to support their learning journey! Visit https://5il.co/2wvm7 for more information and get started today! 🌟👩🏫👨🏫

Attention Camden Families:
There is an increased presence of law enforcement at our schools as a precautionary measure. If you notice more officers on campus, please know that this does not necessarily indicate a problem.
Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Rest assured, we will always communicate promptly if there is ever a threat to our school community. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
📚✨ Problem Solving in Camden County Schools: A Step-by-Step Guide! 🌟
At Camden County Schools, we believe in addressing issues promptly and effectively. Here's the process to ensure your concerns are heard and resolved:
🔹 Step 1: Teacher/Staff Member Closest to the Situation
Start by discussing the issue with the teacher or staff member who is directly involved. They are often the best equipped to provide immediate solutions or clarifications.
🔹 Step 2: School Administrator/Division Supervisor
If the problem isn't resolved, the next step is to contact the school administrator or division supervisor. They can offer additional support and resources to help address the concern.
🔹 Step 3: Central Office Administrator
Should the issue persist, reach out to a central office administrator. They have a broader perspective and can coordinate with various departments to find a resolution.
🔹 Step 4: Superintendent
For more complex issues, the Superintendent is available to provide higher-level intervention and ensure that all policies and procedures are being followed.
🔹 Step 5: Board of Education
As a last resort, you can bring the concern to the Board of Education. They oversee the entire school district and can make decisions on policy changes or other significant actions.
We are committed to creating a positive and supportive environment for our students, staff, and community. Your voice matters, and we're here to help every step of the way! 💬🤝
